What's the point if you have an Indian. Or hold off taking possession (for good reason). Anyway Bedouin is on to something, even mat waits. Oh Lee, think hard ...and best to you.

No Ray not yet, the bike is at the dealer and all of the accessories that I ordered have to come from interstate , just happens to be the worst affected corona virus state. Also as Polaris closed it's company owned dealerships in July and took on independent dealers things are a bit disrupted, again due to the virus. It will probably be ready sometime next week but as I am going on a seven day ride late next week I've told them not to rush.

As soon as I have it I will certainly post some pics.

Rich, I have to say I wonder at your demeanor sometimes. What is the " for good reason" ? Do you have some sort of agenda against American motorbikes? Or any other brands, as it seems you can't handle any criticism of the Tbird or heaven forbid if someone buys something different.

Who is to say that if Triumph bring out another Tbird that I won't buy it and ad it to my collection , it's my money and my life ( that's the "point") I will do as I please, if I fuck up then so be it, my research says that I won't, also I reiterate that I am NOT selling my Thunderbird, the ORIGINAL 1600

Live and let live mate

Gracious reply to AZ. To me it doesn't matter what you ride, the point is enjoy riding. When I am at the pub and I see a bike I always check it out. What really pleases me is when the owner is near it and I can ask/ annoy the owner all about his ride. It's an interested approach, meeting new people and maybe a friend.

When I said "for good reason" I meant If the rumor is true, a new TBird. Anyway fwiw I'm a Triumph loyalist on a Thunderbird forum and there's nothing wrong with that.

...and ride safe

Hi guys!

Following my post of a couple of days ago where I said the Bird would be back, I would like to clarify as I don't want to start unwarranted rumours. I only want to start warranted one's.

A year ago I spoke to our "deep throat" person in Triumph who told me that work was being done on the Bird's engine for emissions purposes and to include other refinements.
He/she also told me not to expect a new model for at least the next 2 years (at that time).

I tried to get hold of that person over the last two days and finally did this morning.

He/she wasn't able to speak much so I had to limit it to a couple of questions ...

The first question I asked was if they were still working on the engine. The reply was "oh yes!".
The second question I asked was could we expect something in the next year. The reply was " no".
I persisted and asked about the next 2 years ... and voila!
The person said "it looks that way but only if the market conditions allow for it as there are several plans in the oven".

I know it is not much but I think you will appreciate I have to be super careful not to endanger this person's position.
We have been served well by this person therefore I am a little restrained and do not push too much.

So, my feeling is that we may be seeing more solid evidence nearer to the end of next year and if we are lucky a new iteration of the Bird sometime in 2022 (or model year 2023 ).

Bedouin out!

Well done super sleuth

Also that makes me feel better about my decision, another year or two, maybe, I can do a lot of riding in that time.

If u get a chance to talk to him again, maybe ask what if anything he knows about the knocking issue and whether they are addressing that. I gotta think that would be a priority, but on the other hand triumph has always seemed to write that off like it didn't exist probably for obvious reasons.

Who said it was a "him"???

I will Dale, but it will be a while before I bother the person again. I am sure you understand why.
But I will remember to ask.

Of course, no problem. I'd be unlikely to get one because of my $ state and im just getting too old to want to deal with a big bike any more. But that doesn't mean my curiosity isn't piqued. What would have me excited would a 1200 cruiser, not like the tweaked bobber they're calling a speedmaster but one like the old speedmaster. That doesn't seem likely tho so if and when i do sell the bird i'll likely go with a T120.

Well, over three years since I bought the Indian, no regrets, still a great ride and so far low maintenance.
